Delivery format

The UW Certified Professional Coach Program (UWCPC) is held completely online via Zoom. All content, including teaching and materials of the UWCPC, is in the English language.

About the learning space

Our live, in-class times are the place where learners practice and experience the skills of coaching. In aligning with best practices, we have created a class structure that supports virtual learning.

Attendance is required at all class sessions. To minimize disruptions and foster a rich learning experience, participants are asked not to come to class unless they can attend the entire session (e.g., if a student knows that they need to leave early, they will be asked to not to come to class that day, etc.). Students can miss up to two (2) sessions, but those two sessions cannot be the first or last class.

In addition, students are required to routinely work with classmates outside of scheduled class times. Exact dates and times for those meetings are to be determined, and dependent on participant schedules.

The UWCPC is a cohort program, which means participants begin and complete the program with the same group of learners.

Technology requirements

Computer, recording tools (to create MP3 files) and high-speed internet access are required. We use video conferencing software and the University of Wisconsin learning platform Canvas. Learners do not need experience with these tools prior to beginning the program, however, participants must have basic computer skills in order to be successful in this online learning environment.

Schedule

ICF accreditation

The International Coaching Federation’s Level 2 accreditation is for at least 125 contact learning hours and is designated as PCC Accredited Education. Graduates from a Level 2 education and training program may apply for the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) Credential and/or the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential using the Level 2 application path if they meet the ICF’s credentialing requirements.
