Mindfulness for Clinicians: An 8-Week Intensive Course

Mental health providers have at their disposal an array of evidence-based practices (EBPs) for a variety of disorders (e.g., depression, PTSD, OCD, etc.), including effective Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) protocols. However, there is a significant proportion of clients who have difficulties engaging in those EBPs. Coaching Skills Sharpener Series/Group Mentoring

This Skills Sharpener Series is a five-day workshop-like experience over the span of 10 weeks designed to give learners practice and feedback about their coaching skills from a highly experienced and certified PCC-level Mentor Coach. With the Mentor Coach, participants will work in groups of no more than ten to practice the skills and competencies required of a PCC-level, ICF-certified, professionally credentialed coach. Participants will take turns coaching one another and providing feedback per the ICF's Core Competencies and PCC Markers, in a group setting. This series will count toward the completion of the ICF's Group Mentoring requirements for both ACC and PCC levels. Participants who attend will be awarded 8 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units from the ICF.

Enrich Your Practice: Implicit Bias, Cultural Humility, and the DSM-5

In this seminar, we will discuss what implicit bias is and how it operates in everyday life. Participants will learn how each of us can recognize our biases and break the link between implicit bias and prejudiced actions. We'll talk about one approach to working with people from varied backgrounds and experiences — cultural humility. Participants will also be introduced to the DSM-5 Cultural Formulation Interview and learn how to incorporate it into their clinical practices. Resources for learning more about topics discussed and taking action on what is learned will be shared. We will also have time for discussion and to learn from each other.

Enrich Your Practice: Introduction to DBT

Subject Area: Behavioral HealthMental Health
Participants in this seminar will be introduced to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), where it fits into the history of psychotherapy in the United States and how it incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and mindfulness practices into its approach to treatment. The etiology of Borderline Personality Disorder from a DBT perspective will also be introduced and key concepts in DBT will be defined. Finally, we will review each of the four skills modules taught in DBT.

Enrich Your Practice: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

This course will provide participants with an overview of the primary tenets of psychodynamic psychotherapy. We will discuss ways the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual and the DSM-5 conceptualize behavior differently. We will also discuss ways to use aspects of a psychodynamic approach to enrich case conceptualizations and guide interventions from a range of psychotherapeutic traditions (e.g. CBT, DBT, IPT, ACT and parent-child psychotherapies).

Healing for Healers

This workshop is designed to be a sanctuary for anyone who is on the front lines providing mental health care. Join us for two mornings of exploring concepts and practices that nourish wellbeing and promote emotional resilience. We will identify and experiment with evidence-based practices to nurture the healer within. Please be prepared to engage in a variety of relaxation practices throughout this workshop including gentle yoga and guided meditation. You will have opportunities to connect with colleagues and for personal reflection. Cameras are optional. No prior experience is required.

Motivational Interviewing: Advancing Skills Practice

This 20-hour course will be a mix of live online session(s) using the Zoom platform, and self-directed learning in the Canvas online course site.  The course is designed for learners who have intermediate knowledge and skills needed for the practice of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and want to strengthen their existing skillset. Participate in four, 3-hour, live online, instructor-led sessions that will include lecture, discussion and small group practice sessions. Enhance your learning with 8-hours of required independent coursework. Improve your MI practice through peer (one session) and instructor (two sessions) feedback from standardized client interviews.  As a learner of this course, you are required to purchase a copy of Building Motivational Interviewing Skills: A Practitioner Workbook, Second Edition by David B. Rosengren (2017) by the start of the class. This required textbook is sold by many online vendors. Please look for ISBN number 9781462532063. It is generally available at Guildford Press or Amazon. The Canvas course site will be available two weeks before the first live session.
