“Technology and innovation are driving new approaches to education,” said Neil Heinen, host of For the Record on WISC-TV. “And as usual, the University of Wisconsin is out front.”
Heinen interviewed Jeffrey S. Russell, dean of UW-Madison’s Division of Continuing Studies, and Les Howles, director of the Distance Teaching & Learning Conference, about radical transformations in the way people learn. Russell and Howles discussed the role of the Distance Teaching & Learning Conference in preparing educators for 21st century challenges.
“There’s so much happening right now in the way of educational innovations, and teachers and trainers need to keep abreast of these new methods,” Howles said.
Russell emphasized the conference’s accessibility for those in higher education, K-12, industry, and the military.
“Instructors want to enable their students to learn, and they realize that new approaches are developing,” he said. “What we’re trying to do is make the training more available so that these new approaches are easier to implement.”
