Take Center Stage with Modern Dance

Looking for new ways to express yourself this summer? Consider taking Modern Dance with Kanopy Dance instructor Olivia Rivard.

The class runs June 9-July 28 and will explore concepts of space, time, and energy. Rivard’s instruction will also focus on physical alignment, developing coordination, and interpreting the world through movement.

“I think that the body is the primary knower of the world around us and how we experience it,” said Rivard in a video for Kanopy Dance Studio. “Dance has always been the tool to experience life—to understand it and to process it.”

After earning a B.F.A. in Dance and a B.A. in French Studies from the University of Minnesota, Rivard trained at Studio Harmonic and the Centre de danse du Marais in Paris where she taught her own modern dance classes for adults.

“Dance to me is how I see the world, how I exist.”
