As an individual practitioner, ensure you are providing services respectful of the person's self-ascribed identity; as a leader, address quiet quitting, turnover and enhance your culture of inclusivity and belonging.

Bring yourself or bring your team! If you provide direct support to served persons, colleagues, or are a leader of teams, this foundational session of Cultural Humility to Cultural Reverence will support you to begin or enhance your skill to deliver services and/or create a culture of inclusivity and respect. Support everyone to show up as their whole self — colleague or served person.

The goal of this exploration of Cultural Humility to Cultural Reverence is to enhance your ability to serve increasingly diverse client populations and work with increasingly diverse teams. In this interactive course, we will explore in dedicated conversations the four principles of Cultural Humility: Self-Reflection and Lifelong Learning, Client as Expert, Community as Expert and Institutional Self-Reflection and Investment + Modeling. This course will prepare you to disrupt the Continuum of Oppression by applying the 4-Principles of Cultural Humility to avoid bias, prejudice and 'isms (racism, orientation-ism, gender-ism and more).

  • Describe an approach to providing services respectful of the served person's self-ascribed identity.
  • Apply the 4-Principles of Cultural Humility.
  • Apply the Agreements to have ongoing conversations about culture and identity.

This training is conducted with members from Share Collaborative. Share Collaborative is a collective of innovative facilitators supporting individuals and teams to increase their ability to embrace a trauma-informed, culturally reverent approach to the work you do. Share Collaborative facilitators bring over 30 years of experience as direct service providers, program managers, and executive leaders. Their facilitators have a comprehensive understanding of the constraints and dynamics of day-to-day service in a range of environments. Share Collaborative regularly works in the context of criminal justice, health care, behavioral health, education, workforce development, and addictions.

This virtual class is being offered remotely at the listed days/times. Details, including instructions for accessing the online learning platform via the internet or dial-in option, will be provided to registrants one week before class.

Meet your instructors

Noor Jawad

(BSNH, CHT, RM, ADS) is a lifelong learner and masterful Life Transformation Coach and Metaphysical Teacher. Noor is a former Health and Human Services researcher/planner and program director serving diverse communities in Milwaukee and the SE Wisconsin area. She maintains a 25-year Life Transformation Coaching and Self-Care Wellness Education practice. Her services are formatted to private coaching, organizational development focus groups, workshops and retreats. She is a natural health educator, a certified Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master, and Auricular Detox Acupuncture Specialist. She delights in sharing her skills and guidance with others as they navigate their personal psycho-emotional-spiritual evolution and professional leadership development.

Shawn Smith

is a founder of Share Collaborative a human services professional development organization based in Milwaukee, WI and a Certified Motivational Interviewing Trainer and Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) Member. Share Collaborative's goal is to guide professionals in learning how to engage with people struggling with the impact of trauma in ways that support them choosing to heal and transform their trauma while revering their identity. Shawn has 20+ years of applied and practical experience as a direct service provider, program director, and agency leader in residential treatment, criminal justice, education, youth services, and workforce development settings; and is a Certified Motivational Interviewing Trainer and Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) Member. He is an early adopter of Cultural Humility and in 2015 initiated the first trainer of trainers with the founder Melanie Tervalon, MD, MPH.
