Course Description:

Unlock innovation and improve decision-making with our 'Design Thinking for Innovative Problem Solving' course. Designed for working professionals, this hands-on course equips you with practical tools to tackle real-world challenges in both business and everyday life. Learn to empathize with others, define problems, brainstorm novel solutions, develop prototypes and refine your solutions based on feedback.

By applying the five stages of the human-centered design thinking process — Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test — you'll gain skills to drive business innovation, enhance efficiency and foster a culture of creativity. Through collaborative, in-class activities and discussions, you'll develop an innovator's mindset, improve communication and turn complex problems into opportunities for growth. By the end of this course, you'll have the tools to make impactful decisions and drive positive changes, enhancing your adaptability and innovative capacity in a competitive market. No prior technical expertise is required.

Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and gain hands-on experience with the five stages of the design thinking process: Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.
  • Discuss how design thinking principles address unmet needs, and help define and solve problems.
  • Identify how design thinking solves complex 'wicked' problems across industries and roles.
  • Explain how each of the design thinking stages support innovative solutions in tackling workplace challenges.
