Summary
This 6-hour course, offered over two three-hour live webinars meets Wisconsin requirements for ethics continuing education for licensure renewal and is designed for psychologists and other clinicians. It is offered fully online via Zoom with instructor Erri Hewitt, PhD.
Health and human services providers experience stress related to their work and rates of burnout have increased in recent years. This stress is amplified for groups that have been underrepresented and discriminated against in health and human services settings. Affecting both personal and professional domains, burnout may be associated with a decrease in professionalism, a greater number of mistakes, and substance use and mood disorders. In this webinar, we will review empirical research on burnout and wellness with an emphasis on practical and evidence-based applications of this work.
Participants will also engage in hands-on learning activities identifying how provider burnout impacts them individually and how burnout impacts and is impacted by the systems in which they work. Participants will have opportunities to identify their burnout symptoms and to set goals to enhance their well-being and improve their day-to-day delivery of mental health care services. Opportunities to discuss systems-level interventions with colleagues will be provided as well as opportunities to try out a variety of evidence-based wellness activities.
