Course Outline

Unit 1: Networks Basics Weeks 1-2

Networks basics:

Networking refers to the practice of connecting computers and other devices to share resources and information. It involves the design, implementation, management and maintenance of communication systems that enable data transfer and collaboration between devices. The network is a key factor in delivering cloud-based services because it connects all IT systems and can offer and scale these resources to satisfy application and end-user demands. Cloud engineers should understand virtual networks and general network management functions. With networking knowledge, one can understand how to access cloud services hosted on cloud servers.

Unit 2: Linux CLI and Bash scripting Weeks 3-5

OS & Linux:

As a cloud engineer, you are responsible for preparing the infrastructure (servers) on which the application is deployed. Fundamentals of operating systems, Linux, and feeling comfortable using the Command Line Interface (CLI) are crucial. This boot camp will teach you everything you need for your cloud job.

Unit 3: Git / GitHub Weeks 6-8

Version control:

This topic is tailored to enhance skills in managing software versions effectively. We cover tools and practices for maintaining code integrity, collaboration and continuous integration which are essential for any software development role. In this boot camp, you'll learn the most popular one: Git. Throughout the boot camp, you'll use Git to save your work in your Git repositories, so by the end, you'll feel comfortable using it.

Unit 4: AWS Cloud Services Weeks 9-18

AWS Cloud Services:

Companies are using virtual infrastructure on the cloud instead of managing their infrastructure.

Through the boot camp, you'll learn about cloud concepts in general, how to set up a simple virtual server on a cloud and how to deploy an application using hands-on documents. This gives you a first introduction to this topic, learning AWS in depth. AWS is the most powerful and widely used cloud platform in the IT market and also one of the most complex. So, understanding the core services of AWS and how to build a proper infrastructure using various AWS services is an essential skill set of any cloud engineer that you learn here extensively.

Unit 5: Final project Weeks 19-20

AWS Cloud capstone project:

As part of a small team, you'll draw upon everything you have learned in the program to deploy a web application on AWS Cloud infrastructure. Get creative and come up with something cool to show off to the whole world!

Unit 6: AWS Certification Exam Preparation Weeks 21-22

There will be separate AWS Certification preparation sessions. These sessions will be live, question-and-solution sessions for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CP) and AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate (SAA) certification exams.

The goal of these sessions is to prepare you for the real AWS Certificate exams and put you one step ahead of your competitors. In the meantime, cheat sheets (summary documents) will be provided in advance to help prepare you for the certification exams.
