Kay Adams

Kay Adams is a coach, educator, clinician, writer, speaker and trainer. She is the founder of Compassion Works, LLC, which provides individualized dementia coaching, advance care planning, workshops and educational offerings to families, professional care partners and organizations on a variety of topics related to dementia. In addition, Kay is also a certified dementia consultant and trainer for Teepa Snow and Positive Approach to Care.

Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi

Credentials: PhD, RN

Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and investigator in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Care Research Core. A 2018 recipient of a Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award, Dr. Gilmore-Bykovskyi leads a program of research focused on promoting effective and equitable care and research for persons living with and at risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Nancy Kusmaul

Credentials: PhD, MSW

Nancy Kusmaul is an associate professor in the Baccalaureate Social Work program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She received her PhD from the University at Buffalo School of Social Work and her master’s in social work from the University of Michigan. Dr. Kusmaul worked as a social worker in nursing homes and hospitals for more than a decade. Her research promotes social justice for the oldest and frailest of older adults and their intergenerational professional caregivers by focusing on organizational culture, trauma-informed care and the impact of trauma experiences on workers and care recipients.
