Position title: Admissions Support Associate
Department: Adult Career & Special Student Services, Advising & Admissions
After creating a successful career selling Wisconsin's finest cheese, Rick Kempf decided to return to school to complete his Bachelor's in Sociology and Environmental Studies. Not willing to wait to start his new career, as a student he worked both as an advisor for the UW–Madison Leadership Certificate program and as a program facilitator for the Adventure Learning Programs, leading experiential education based team building workshops.
After 3 years, in 2020, Rick is proud not just to have graduated, but also with a Certificate in Leadership and having received the Outstanding Returning Adult Student Award.
Since graduation Rick worked with the Madison school district and Lussier Community Center supporting students with virtual learning, and most recently is working with Boulders Climbing Gym leading and developing programming bringing climbing and experiential education to Madison communities which historically did not have access to such programs.
Rick is excited to begin working at UW–Madison in ACSSS, the very department he first reached out to 4 years ago as he began his journey back to school.
