Frequently Asked Questions about Summer Music Clinic

How will I know which band/orchestra/choir/
musical theater/jazz ensemble I’m in? 

We’ll hand out weekly class schedules and final concert schedules at registration before your audition. Once you have played your audition and had your orientation sessions with your counselors then results are posted with your name listed in the group(s) in which you will participate for the week.

Do I have to send in an audition recording?

No, no need. We have auditioners on hand for the day you register.

How I am placed into Music Clinic performing ensemble and group lessons?

Your placement audition will place you with others who are at a similar experience level. You will be matched with others for camp applied lessons and performing groups based on what our judges hear in the audition. Teaching can be more concentrated and positive when the musicians who participate in the camp week are at a similar skill level.

Which dormitory will I stay in? Are boys and girls in the same dormitory?

Music Clinic students will be housed in the New Ogg Hall. While the students stay in the same facility the supervision and assignments are made to separate floors by gender and grade levels.

How can I room with my friend?

Make sure that both you and the person you want to be your roommate request each other! We run a list of pairings from our computer on the day we do housing and need to be able to match the requests from both halves of the requesting pair for it to work.

Do I have to know someone ahead of time to be my roommate?

No, many of our students connect with their roommates and meet others from around the country who will be living on their floor for the first time at camp. Our counselors are on hand as you check in to help you feel comfortable and to help you get to know people. We’ll pair you with someone who is in the same grade as you are.

What happens if I have to cancel?

Call us right away and tell us about the circumstances. We will immediately begin the refund process (minus the $50 processing fee). It usually takes around 4 weeks for the refund to be processed.

Which camp should I sign up for?

If you are just completing grades 6, 7 or 8 then you will participate June 17-23. There is a commuter only option for 5th graders. If you have completed any of the high school grades 9-12 then you will participate June 24-29.

I’m just finishing my senior year of high school. Can I still attend Summer Music Clinic?

Yes, we have approximately 50 students each year who have completed their senior year.
