Credit Programs

Visiting International Student Program (VISP)

  • Short-term study for international undergraduate students not in a formal exchange program

Formal Exchange Programs

  • Short-term study for international undergraduate students nominated by their home university to attend UW–Madison through a formal exchange program

Online and Flexible Degrees and Certificates

  • Specialized training at the graduate level through online and on-campus programs

Summer Term

  • 1,000 courses in 1- to 8-week sessions for undergraduate students

Intensive English Program

  • Full-time study of English as a Second Language (ESL) for undergraduate or graduate students

Distance Learning

  • Online/distance learning courses

Students at the American Culture and English Program University of Wisconsin–Madison

Noncredit Programs

English Language Program (ESL)

  • Part-time English language classes on the UW–Madison campus

American Culture and English Program

  • Summer program for international high school students

UW Advance

  • A customizable program for international students age 18 and older that includes ESL instruction along with specialized lectures, seminars, field trips, and a variety of cultural events and activities.
