Summary
Course description:
Boost your confidence with this short high-intermediate (B1.2) book club while deepening your understanding of the Spanish past tenses. Practice narrating in the past, learn new expressions and expand your vocabulary as you discuss a novel with your instructor and other participants.
In this five-week course, participants will read, analyze and discuss the mystery novel El dia del juicio by Paco Ardit. Each week participants will discuss questions about the story, examine how the story is told and learn about Latin American cultures.
Course format:
Discussions will happen in weekly one-and-a-half-hour live online sessions led by an experienced instructor and include a mix of small group discussions and conversations with the entire class. The live online sessions begin one week after the scheduled course start date to allow time to work through the first unit of learning material in preparation for the live conversation practice.
Participants will read an average of 25 pages of the novel weekly and work through a provided reading guide. Additional online course materials will increase cultural knowledge and build vocabulary and grammar skills.
Course materials become available online on the scheduled course start date and remain accessible for one month after the course ends.
Book purchase required. Reading guide and additional online materials included in the price.
Prerequisite: Spanish 5 or equivalent. Take the Spanish 5 placement test.
You are invited to preview the first three chapters of the novel.
Purchase the book
Purchase of the audio version is encouraged as an additional learning tool, but is not required.
