
Summary
This workshop is designed to be a sanctuary for anyone who is on the front lines providing mental health care. Join us for two mornings of exploring concepts and practices that nourish wellbeing and promote emotional resilience. We will identify and experiment with evidence-based practices to nurture the healer within. Please be prepared to engage in a variety of relaxation practices throughout this workshop including gentle yoga and guided meditation. You will have opportunities to connect with colleagues and for personal reflection. Cameras are optional. No prior experience is required.

Learning objectives
At the end of day one, participants will be able to:
- Identify barriers to well-being and vulnerabilities to burnout unique to those in the helping professions
- Engage in evidence-based mindfulness practices that cultivate self-awareness and increase stress resilience
- Utilize the science of yoga to create emotional and physical well-being
At the end of day two, participants will be able to:
- Identify and apply key aspects of Mindful Self-Compassion research to increase emotional resilience
- Utilize key concepts and practices from an Interpersonal Neurobiology framework to cultivate wellness
- Identify key concepts and micro-practices to integrate into your daily life

Course Outline
Course Agenda
Day 1
- Normalize the vulnerabilities to burnout inherent in the helping professions.
- Identify personal and systemic factors contributing to burnout
- Explore the concept of the wounded healer from a Jungian perspective
- Identify the burnout cycle and reflect on how it plays out for your personally
- Explore mindfulness practices to cultivate self-awareness and increase stress resilience
- Identify some of the research, benefits, and myths of mindfulness
- Experiment with specific strategies to deepen self-awareness and build stress resilience
- Explore current research and participate in a yoga experience
- Explore current research on the benefits of regular yoga practice
- Participate in a yoga experience designed to balance the nervous system
Day 2
- Explore The Mindful Self Compassion Model as an evidence-based skillset to enhance emotional resilience
- Define the components of the mindful self-compassion model
- Participate in some self-compassion exercises
- Explore the research and limitations of this model
- Explore current research to cultivate wellness from an Interpersonal Neurobiology perspective
- Identify key concepts and research findings that inform this framework
- Participate in research-backed practices designed to promote brain integration, emotional and physical wellness
- Identify key concepts and micro-practices you can take with you and integrate into your daily life
- Recap of specific concepts and practices explored in this workshop
- Opportunity to discuss these practices and build community with colleagues
