About Family Sexual Abuse Treatment
Family Sexual Abuse Treatment (FSAT) is a unique agency designed to coordinate and support efforts to provide efficient, comprehensive, community based treatment for incest families. FSAT originated to avoid delays in service and interagency conflict and misinformation which can result in ineffective treatment. One of a few programs that makes extensive use of already existing resources in the public and private sector, it relies on a minimal amount of public monies in providing a comprehensive treatment service. As part of the University of WisconsinMadison, the Department of Professional Development and Applied Studies (PDAS) is committed to the "Wisconsin Idea" of extending the boundaries of the University to the boundaries of the state. Faculty and staff of the department provide continuing education, instruction, research, technical assistance and public service on a range of health and human issues: aging, alcohol and drug abuse, mental illness, farm and rural stress, child abuse and neglect, adolescent suicide, changing families, sexual assault, minorities, incarceration, stress in the workplace, conflict resolution and prevention of health and human problems. The department's programs reach a wide spectrum of health and human service providers, community leaders and policy makers, professional practitioners in many disciplines, paraprofessionals, volunteers, managers, staff of public and private agencies and the public.
