Adobe Photoshop: introduction
Date: April 5, 2013
This hands-on workshop introduces the basic tools for outputting an image at the desired size and quality for print and for the web.
You will learn to:
- Enhance, tone, size and sharpen grayscale and color photos
- Determine correct resolution
- Remove scratches and dust
- Composite images
- Add type
- Clone portions of one image onto another
- Work with layers
- Optimize images and graphics for the web
Adobe Photoshop: advanced

This hands-on workshop focuses on advanced aspects of tools, modes, image adjustments, layer masks, separations, calibration, process and spot color and achieving predictable reproduction in a desktop prepress environment. We also cover adjustment layers, actions and the history palette. Bring projects for assistance.
Prerequisite: Photoshop Intro or equivalent experience.
Your instructor
Michael Kienitz is a digital imaging trainer, consultant and freelance photographer of international stature whose photographs have appeared in Time, Newsweek, the New York Times and U.S. News and World Report. Fee: $290, includes instruction, materials and non-refundable administrative fee of $20. Lunch is not provided.

Parking: Information is sent with your confirmation. If you are unfamiliar with parking in downtown Madison, it is strongly advised that you purchase a parking permit in advance from the UW-Extension Registration Office, 608-262-1122.
Cancellation policy: If you are unable to attend or arrange for a substitute, you may obtain a refund minus the $20 administrative fee by contacting our registration department at least 3 business days prior to the program. If you cancel 3 business days or less before the program, or do not attend, you are responsible for the entire fee. To cancel or arrange for a substitute, please call 800-725-9692.
Approved hours: The Department of Professional Development and Applied Studies writing programs award CEU's upon completion of the workshop. This program carries .6 CEU.
