Youth, Power, and Wisdom: Biber's Pictures of the Life of Christ
Saturday, June 8, at 7:30 p.m.
Luther Memorial Church
1021 University Avenue, Madison
The program will comprise six of Heinrich Biber's partitas on the Mysteries of the Rosary: nos. I (The Annunciation), IV (The Presentation), X (The Crucifixion), XI (The Resurrection), XII (The Ascension), and XIII (The Descent of the Holy Spirit). The partitas, surviving in a manuscript from the 1680's, are unique examples of musical representation of historical events central to Christianity. There is no admission charge for the concert, but voluntary contributions to offset our expenses will be very much appreciated.
