Early Music Now: Calmus Ensemble Leipzig and Quartet New Generation

"Blaze of Glory: Early Music Now" New to EMN:  Two recent winners of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition.  The five voices of Calmus Ensemble Leipzig join with the recorder collective QNG: Quartet New Generation in an exploration of music much of which was written to honor Holy Roman Emperors, Kings, and Popes.  Lecture at 4:00 p.m.  Reception and preview of the 26th season at intermission.  www.calmus.de/en, www.quartetnewgeneration.de/en

New England Contra Dance:  Fundraiser for the Madison Early Music Festival

Dance instruction – 3:30 p.m
Dance – 4:15-6:00 p.m.

Join Madison’s Last Gaspé contra dance band and caller Roger Diggle for an afternoon of dancing in the New England tradition in honor of the topic of the 2012 Festival, Welcome Home Again: An American Celebration (July 7-14). Light snacks and water provided; cash bar. 

Cost: $15 – all proceeds support the Madison Early Music Festival.
