Portuguese language and culture 1: beginning: This course is appropriate for people of any age who wish to learn Portuguese as quickly as possible. Learn the language through an interactive and practical approach that incorporates cultural information on Brazil. We use various in-class activities to cover basic grammar in the context of daily situations in Brazilian culture. Instructor: Marcos Colon
Portuguese language and culture 2: ongoing: Continue learning Portuguese through a fast, interactive, and practical approach. Improve your listening and speaking skills with an increased emphasis on reading and writing. Practice conversing in Portuguese with a native speaker who incorporates cultural and historical information on Brazil. Use various in-class activities to study grammar in the context of daily situations in Brazilian culture.

Portuguese language and culture 3: intermediate: Continue to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing Portuguese while enriching your knowledge of Brazilian and Portuguese cultures. Develop the ability to use basic words and expressions in everyday situations through an interactive and practical approach. Prerequisite: Portuguese 2, or consent of instructor. Your instructor
Marcus Colon is a PhD candidate in Luso-Brazilian Literature in UW-Madison's Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Born in Brazil to a Brazilian mother and Puerto Rican father, he experienced the rich dynamics of a multi-cultural home. In Brazil, he worked for the government at the Department of Communications in Rio de Janeiro; in addition, he directed the publication of a local newspaper which focused on all forms of cultural expression with emphasis on literature. He has over 8 years experience teaching Portuguese and Spanish in the public school system and at several universities in the greater Philadelphia area.
