“A Stitch in Time”, colored pencil

Carol Betts Chaplin Portraiture Award

“A Stitch in Time” was inspired by my visit to the Renaissance Fair. A woman in costume was hand-stitching new sleeves for her garment. The background I created to keep with the medieval look and to have all focus on her. I decided to use colored pencils as my medium because of all the fine details and rich colors. It took many layers of pencil work to create the effect I was after.
