Ever since I was a child, I learned about Shaolin Temple (Monastary), a Chan Buddhist Temple in Henan Province in China. Founded in the 5th century, the Monastary in long famous for its association with Chinese martial arts and, particularly, with Shaolin Kung Fu. Many novels and movies are based on Shaolin Temple. My classmates decided to visit this place two years ago. It took a special effort to get there via plane and bus rides. The day we went, it was pouring day and night. We were not quite prepared for that. We quickly bought umbrellas and ponchos, walked more than a mile from the bus stop to the Temple. The people with umbrellas and ponchos walking in the rain along the willow tree road created a most memorable picture. I painted this picture in memory of the event. I will always cherish the moment.
