La Crosse Society of Arts and Crafts Award

How wonderful to take a morning walk along the rocky coastline of the island of Mykonos, Greece! I was struck by the morning sunlight hitting the builidings. They seemed to glow. In painting the buildings, I wanted to try to make that same glow and make the shadows colorful. The white of the buildings travels down to the boat and restaurant. My desire is to keep my colors very clean and transparent. I liked the repeat of the orange boat and rooftops. I had such a wonderful time painting “Mykonos Morning” and my hope was that viewers would enjoy it as well.
