The decision to go public with our creative work can feel risky. But it's not a decision we need to make all at once. Jesse will talk about tools for developing a following for artistic work. We'll think specifically about what it means to participate in a community of writers, editors, artists, readers, and viewers and emphasize ways to connect with our audience by focusing less on promotion and more on meaningful presence.

Grab 2 minutes of fame at this first of 2 open mic events. Join your fellow weekend students and instructors and share your artistic creations—visual, written, and otherwise—that you produced in your weekend workshops. Not a weekender? Come support the artists and get ideas for your own showcase on Tuesday!

6:30-8pm School of the Arts Open House: Celebrate the Arts!
Enjoy the community that is School of the Arts at Rhinelander. Celebrate the spirit of creativity, collaboration, and new experiences with staff and student displays, demonstrations, readings, live music, refreshments, and door prizes. Bring your family and friends, and become part of School of the Arts at Rhinelander's history by participating in the Community Art project.

6:30 Rhinelander District Library Lecture Series: The Green Fields of America
Take a unique and lively journey through American history, through the storytelling, folk music, and paintings of Joe and Paula McHugh. They will combine music, stories, and projected images to help to bring history alive.

5pm 27th Annual Northern National Art Competition Opening Reception
The Northern National Art Competition is a juried art show awarding more than $8,500 in prizes. The NNAC is a cooperative venture between the Northern Arts Council and the Nicolet College Art Gallery. Purchase tickets on site at School of the Arts for the opening reception.
