Holding History: The Nature of the Book

Holding History welcomes you to hold, explore, and even take pictures of rare books and materials from the Special Collections of UW-Madison Libraries. In 2017, we draw particular attention to environmental history by exploring what books are made of and how people have captured our relationships with, and reflections on, nature within their pages. You receive readings and other materials in advance, in preparation for our visit to Special Collections.

Holding History is hosted by the UW-Madison’s Special Collections in Memorial Library and is offered in partnership with UW Continuing Studies and UW-Madison Libraries. Grant supported provided by the Kemper K. Knapp Fund. UW-Madison Continuing Studies participants will receive reading and other materials in advance, in preparation for our visit to Special Collections and participation in this event.
