Aztalan and the Mississippians
One thousand years ago a spectacular Native American civilization arose along the Mississippi River, building the city of Cahokia, and expanding to the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts and Wisconsin. A town was established along Wisconsin's Crawford River. This culture collapsed in the northern part of North America circa AD 1250. We examine Mississippian culture revealed through excavations and new discoveries, including those at Cahokia and Aztalan. Includes a field trip to Aztalan State Park.
