Doug develops and leads educational trips for adults throughout the United States and the world. Domestic trips focus primarily on the performing arts, while international trips encompass many subjects, ranging from archaeology, fine arts, and wildlife ecology, to history, religion, and others.

Doug Whittle came to the University of Wisconsin in 2004 after spending 12 years as professor of fine art at Converse College in South Carolina.

Dr Barry Orto>n speakingHe received a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the University of Florida in 1984 before spending 2 years in Zaire, Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer building fish ponds with local tribesmen in the Congo River basin. He returned to the University of Florida and received a master of fine arts degree in printmaking in 1990.

His work as a painter and printmaker has been featured nationally in galleries and museums, as well as in several international competitions. Institutions that own his artwork include The Fogg Museum at Harvard University, Carolina First Bank, The Palmetto State Bank, Marriott Hotels Inc., Wofford College, and other private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe.

He has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central America, and has led trips on 5 continents for University of Wisconsin Continuing Studies.
