It’s been several years since I studied a second language. Can I still take a class?
Absolutely! Our courses are open to community members of all ages and levels. They are relaxed, fun, and informal times for you to work on the skills you already have and develop new ones. If you are not sure which course level fits your skills, please contact us.
Are your classes for credit?
Our language classes are not for university credit but earn CEUs (Continuing Education Units). If you are interested in taking credit classes, please contact the Adult and Student Services Center.
When and where are classes held?
Our classes are held in a variety of buildings on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, and meet in the evenings to fit around your schedule. Because of UW-Madison scheduling, our classrooms are not assigned until the week before class starts. You can call our Registration Office at 608-262-2451 for your classroom location, or download our classroom locations locations (pdf). For parking information, download our parking sheet (pdf). How do I register?
You can register online via the online continuing education catalog, by calling 608-262-2451 and paying with a credit card, or by sending your registration form and check (payable to UW-Madison) to the Registration Office, 702 Langdon St, Madison, WI 53706.
Where can I purchase my books?
Books and other materials for our classes are available at The University Bookstore at 711 State St, in the lower level textbook department in the Outreach section. See campus map.
How much homework will I have?
This varies, but in general, we tailor the class requirements to meet your needs. There is no need to say “the dog ate my homework!”
